Protest

I'm back with not a rant, but a protest...
Not one... But two actually...

...

There is a new bill that the United States government is trying to pass...
It is called the Stop Online Piracy Act, or (SOPA) for short, also known as The Protect IP Act of 2011. The US Congressional Budget Office estimated that implementation of the bill would cost the federal government $47 million through 2016. Translated into plain English, It will cost tax payers $47 million...
The SOPA act will censor you from accessing certain websites and block all access to other areas of the Internet that the United States government does not want you to access...

This SOPA act is essentially grinding down on our freedom on the Internet. This act will make it so that even if you are filming yourself, your children, your dog or whoever you want and you have music playing in the background, or video on TV, you are breaking the law, and the government will order the websites that host your content to censor your content because of their new bill. Or if you visit websites that are on servers not in the United States you will be blocked so that you cannot access them.

Ask yourself, would you want this? And further more, who owns the Internet or who would have the right to do this?

The answer is simple, No one actually owns the Internet, and no single person, organization or government controls the Internet in its entirety. It is more of a concept than an actual tangible entity, the Internet relies on a physical infrastructure that connects networks to other networks. There are many organizations, corporations, governments, schools, private citizens and service providers that all own pieces of the infrastructure that make up the Internet, but there is no one entity that owns it all... How can the US government decide to block access to parts of the Internet that the US government does not even own? The SOPA act is a direct violation to people's right to freedom of knowledge and information, And for that violation the United States government is a disgrace to the land of the free, The free that every United States soldier has fought or died for. The United States government is essentially telling the people of the United States that they are free to do as the government tells them. If people do not follow their rules they will arrest them for making an attempt to learn... No matter where that knowledge or information comes from. But the government will tell the media that these people are getting arrested for acts of treason, domestic terrorism, or Internet piracy. As for the United States government. Who gave you the right to regulate the people's right to think outside the box and use the Internet as they see fit?

And don't stop to think "Well I don't live in the USA, so I'm going to be alright. This dose not affect me"... WRONG! This will affect the entire world since a wast amount of websites are hosted in the USA.

If we aren't going to fight this we might just as well say goodbye to the Internet...

...

The second protest is one closer to home for me... It's a protest against our government. Against our president. It's already a week in, but not close to over.

Some of them protest against the Romanian government, (most) others protest against the crisis and because they feel the need to protest. I do not blame them - they have the legitimate right to do it. We are a democracy. The "official" reason of these protests was the new health act promoted by the government. However, this act was no more than a pretext: the government renounced a few days ago.

Life here is already hard enough for the vast majority, prices are going up, just like taxes, while our pay is getting cut more and more, and now they want to degrade in even more by ruining our health care system. I say no. I say let's shout our words out and make ourselves heard....

The Government currently perches on the narrow brink of collapse, lets give it a nice hard push. We simply do not need or want the future they're trying to sell us. No government can exist that we, the people, refuse to support. It's time to revoke that consent. It's time to spread the message of dissent everywhere. Show those who have, and continue to, grant themselves nearly unlimited power how great the force is that rises up en masse to oppose their tyranny.

If you speak, They have to listen. If they do not listen, Their blatant disregard for the people will not go unnoticed, and is not acceptable.

...

And to quote one other movement on the web...

"We are Anonymous.
We are legion.
We are everyone.
We are everywhere.
We are you.
We do not forgive.
We do not forget.

This is our world, and we're taking it back.

Expect us."
